This A2 ESL lesson explores the topic “Is Driving Dangerous?”, helping students learn useful vocabulary and phrases for talking about cars, driving, road safety, and everyday driving situations.

Learners discuss different types of cars, practise key driving vocabulary such as steering wheel, accelerator, indicator, handbrake, and speedometer, and explore common causes of accidents including speeding, bad weather, tiredness, and distracted driving. They develop their ability to describe driving experiences, explain rules, and share opinions about road safety.

Through a variety of engaging activities, students practise using “have to” to talk about driving responsibilities, take part in debates, and discuss different opinions about cars, drivers, and the future of transport.

This lesson is ideal for A2 learners who are developing fluency in everyday topics such as transport, safety, rules, personal experiences, and giving opinions.
