About ESL Pals

We’re a team of ESL teachers who got tired of spending hours planning lessons. So we built ESL Pals, a library of ready-to-teach lessons and resources made to make teaching easier.

How it was

Our Origin

  1. It started with two ESL teachers in Peru.

    We were teaching English in Arequipa, and our students were tired of the same old textbooks. To be honest, so were we.

  2. We wanted lessons that were more interesting, more useful and more enjoyable to teach. We kept thinking: “There has to be a better way.”

  3. So we started making our own lessons. We shared them with our colleagues.
    They loved them!

    One lesson became ten. Ten became hundreds. And that little idea eventually became ESL Pals.

  4. Oh, and somewhere along the way, we met a llama. 🦙

    The llama stayed. And so did the idea.

Our Journey

    There has to be a better way.

    Two ESL teachers in Arequipa start making their own lessons after getting tired of the same old textbooks.

  2. 2021

    ESL Pals is born.

    The first lessons go live. The llama arrives. Things start getting serious.

  3. 2022

    Teachers start finding us.

    What started as a small idea begins reaching teachers around the world.

  4. 2023

    We keep building.

    More levels, more topics and more lessons are added to the library.

  5. 2024

    1,000+ lessons.

    The library reaches a milestone we once could only dream about.

  6. 2025

    More ways to teach.

    E-lessons and Interactive Tests join the ESL Pals library.

    A fresh new look.

    We’re giving ESL Pals a new look and making it easier to find and teach your next lesson.

    Started ESL Pals because he was fed up with planning lessons. Now spends even more time planning lessons.

    I once created an ESL Pals lesson in Cusco, Peru, while battling altitude sickness!

    Creates lessons, tests ideas and spends a suspicious amount of time making small changes that nobody else will probably notice.

    I used to teach English in Italy in a region that people say doesn’t exist!

    Keeps the llama famous, creates our content and makes sure there’s always something happening on our social channels.

    I speak multiple languages, yet somehow I can’t find the right word in any of them sometimes.
