This B1 ESL listening lesson explores the topic “Winter Around the World”, helping students develop their listening skills and useful language for discussing winter weather, seasonal activities, travel experiences, and cultural differences.
Through a variety of engaging activities, students explore interesting facts about winter, complete listening tasks, practise identifying key information, and discuss two very different winter destinations: Patagonia in Argentina and Lapland in Finland. They listen to an interview with an American ski instructor working in Patagonia, discover winter activities and the Northern Lights in Lapland, compare winter experiences, and share their opinions through discussion questions and a “Would You Rather?” activity.
This lesson is ideal for B1 learners who want to improve their listening comprehension, expand their seasonal vocabulary, discuss travel and outdoor activities, compare different countries, and express their preferences and opinions.
