Lesson Overview

This ESL A2 meeting people plan begins with a warm-up synonyms game which encourages students to begin the lesson by speaking as much as possible. Afterwards, there is a vocabulary task which presents lists of pictures, before challenging them to use the new words in sentences and answer questions. 

Next, detailed vocabulary exercise which introduces new vocabulary then allows learners to practice using it in a natural way. In the grammar task, students are given an explanation before a series of tasks which includes picture tasks, sentence completion and forming questions. 

In the listening exercise, students are challenged to listen to a short audio about moving to the country before answering some multiple choice questions. The lesson then moves on to a fun reading activity which details the lives of people who have moved to a new city. 

The final two exercises are focussed around speaking, presenting the perfect opportunity for learners to use everything they've learned in the class in a fun and engaging manner.

Homework

As with all adult lesson plans on ESL Pals, there is an excellent homework task to supplement this awesome ESL A2 meeting people lesson plan. Students are challenged to write an email home after being given a detailed scenario. In the task, they are given clear scaffolding to support them in structuring their email.
