Lesson Overview
This ESL lesson on time and numbers is great for students who are just starting out with English, as it introduces a lot of functional language they will need on a daily basis. Saying numbers and telling the time are very important when starting out with a language.
The lesson starts with a warm up activity where students can practice saying their phone numbers. Later, the pronunciation difference between 16 / 60, 14 / 40, 17/ 70 is cleared up.
Students then move on to telling the time and learning about the different parts of the day: morning, afternoon, evening and night. Furthermore, focus is placed on prepositions to ensure that students understand and practice this tricky topic. Finally, you can test your students’ understanding with reading, listening and speaking activities.
