Lesson Overview
In this B1 ESL lesson plan, students explore the topic of Valentine’s Day and discuss love, relationships, traditions, and modern celebrations. They begin by learning useful vocabulary related to Valentine’s Day gifts, first dates, and common adjectives used to describe the holiday.
Students then read about three people and discover how they celebrate Valentine’s Day, what gifts they enjoy giving and receiving, and their opinions about the celebration. They practise reading comprehension, comparison skills, and discussion through engaging questions.
The lesson also includes speaking activities such as “This or That” and a Valentine’s Day debate, where students share their opinions on topics like expensive gifts, romantic gestures, and whether Valentine’s Day is meaningful or overrated.
