Lesson Overview
This B1 ESL lesson focuses on the topic “Smart Shopping”, helping students talk about everyday shopping habits and make better decisions when buying products.
Learners explore common shopping situations such as buying clothes, shopping online, comparing prices, and dealing with problems like wrong sizes, high prices, or sold-out items. They also discuss how people can become smarter shoppers by planning ahead, using shopping lists, setting budgets, and thinking carefully before buying.
Students learn and use key vocabulary related to shopping and consumer behaviour, such as try on, rip off, sell out, take back, as well as useful phrases for giving opinions and explaining choices.
Through speaking activities, ranking tasks, problem-solving situations, and “What would you do?” discussions, students practise giving reasons, comparing options, and expressing personal opinions. They also develop confidence in talking about real-life decisions and everyday experiences in a clear and simple way.
This lesson is ideal for B1 learners who are building their fluency and accuracy while discussing practical topics and improving their ability to explain choices and justify opinions in everyday English.
