Lesson Overview
This A1 ESL lesson explores the topic “Around The House”, helping students talk about houses, rooms of the house, and furniture using very basic, natural English.
Learners learn the rooms of the house and practice describing the rooms in their own home. The verb to be is revised in the context of singular and plural nouns with is / are. Students also discuss the furniture they have at home, talk about their dream home and read about different types of home.
Students learn and use useful A1 phrases such as “I like…”, “I don’t like…”, “My favourite is…”, “There is…”,and “There are…”. They also practise asking simple questions like “What rooms are there in your house?” and “Do you like where you live?”
Through speaking tasks, reading activities, discussion questions, and simple pair-work activities, students build confidence talking about houses and their home and asking classmates about where they live.
This lesson is ideal for A1 learners who are developing basic speaking skills on familiar topics such as where you live, rooms of the house and furniture.
