Lesson Overview
In this B1-level ESL lesson plan, students explore the topic “Rent or Buy a Home?” through listening, reading, and speaking activities. Learners practise giving opinions, explaining choices, and supporting ideas with clear reasons using natural, everyday English.
The lesson includes a listening activity where a speaker explains why renting is the best option for their situation, followed by comprehension tasks and vocabulary work related to housing, money, and everyday living. Students also read short case studies of people in different life situations and decide whether renting or buying a home is the better choice for each person.
Through structured speaking tasks, debate statements, and guided discussion questions, students build confidence talking about homes, money, and future plans. The lesson also helps learners practise useful language for comparing options and giving advice in real-life situations.
