Lesson Overview
This A1 ESL lesson explores the topic “My Favourite Colours”, helping students talk about colours, descriptions, and simple personal preferences using very basic, natural English.
Learners learn colours vocabulary and practice describing different objects and scenes. The verb to be is revised in the context of singular and plural nouns with is / are. Students also discuss the clothing they like to wear, describe the colours of their favourite clothes and talk about the colours of their house.
Students learn and use useful A1 phrases such as “I like…”, “I don’t like…”, “My favourite is…”, “It is…”,and “They are…”. They also practise asking simple questions like “What is your favourite colour?” and “What colour clothes do you like to wear?”
Through speaking tasks, “This or That” games, discussion questions, and simple pair-work activities, students build confidence talking about colours and descriptions and asking classmates about the colours they like and don’t like.
This lesson is ideal for A1 learners who are developing basic speaking skills on familiar topics such as colours, clothing and descriptions.
