About the Book
The Pals (Pronunciation and Listening Skills) series
was fashioned to serve as a comprehensive, informative, and
functional tool aimed at encouraging the teaching of English
pronunciation and improving the communication skills of students of
ESL (English as a Second Language).
This book, WORD PALS, focus's on the most
important features of NAE (North American English), or more
specifically, Canadian English, that impact on the intelligibility
of second language learners and offer a simplified course of study
for both instructors and pronunciation students.
WORD PALS intends to:
-
Simplify the theoretical aspects of Canadian English
pronunciation and equip the instructor with adequate linguistic
knowledge and instructional tools to address the needs of the
pronunciation student with confidence and ease
-
Organize the significant elements of language at the world level
(segmentals) in a concise and comprehensible teaching and
learning sequence that mimics the natural language acquisition
process
-
Provide
a phonemic-based syllabus that offers pedagogical techniques,
visual and aural stimuli, and interactive exercises to enhance
detection (listening) and production (speaking) skills and
target successful comprehension and comprehensibility
This Book Represents the essence of
17 years experience in a culturally diverse environment that has not
only developed an awareness of but also inspired a passion for
logic, illogic, and linguistic realities of the spoken language.
It is my desire and hope WORD PALS
becomes a part of your daily ESL curriculum. |
